2013 ASID Student Symposium in Dallas

ASID Texas Chapter 2013 Student Symposium was held on October 18th and 19th in Dallas. Students from design schools all over Texas and a few from other states attended. The first day was held at the World Trade Center in Dallas and the second day it was held at Frank Lloyd Wright's Kalita Humphreys Theater in Dallas. Participants were able to tour showrooms, listen to many professional speakers, and participate in a design charette.

Amber Greenday, Senior Received ASID Scholarship

Our senior, Amber Greenday received a $1500 Scholarship from the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) Texas Chapter. This was one of three scholarships awarded during the ASID Student Symposium held in Dallas, October 16 and 17. The awards will be featured in the next edition of the ASID Texas Chapter newsletter.

IIDA Texas Oklahoma Scholarships Available

The IIDA Texas Oklahoma Scholarships are now available for submissions. The scholarship amounts have been raised for this year. There will now be three $4,000 scholarships awarded – one to a junior, a senior, and a grad student. In addition there is also a $4,000 study abroad scholarship that can be used for students currently on study abroad this semester or who might be going in the spring or summer. Please note that your school does NOT have to have an IIDA Campus Center, but the student must be an IIDA member. Deadline for applications is OCTOBER 20.

Applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements: 
• Current IIDA Member 
• Enrolled within the Texas Oklahoma Chapter’s jurisdiction as a Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program with Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) or graduate program. 
• Declared Interior Design (or related) Major 
• Hold a cumulative 3.0 GPA 
• Shall not be a previous recipient of this scholarship

2010 HKS Design Fellowship - Call for Entries

For the last four years HKS Inc. has been sponsoring a program called HKS Design Fellowship, which provides an environment in which emerging designers can be recognized and grow their talents, while simultaneously benefiting the community. Each year, the HKS Design Fellowship brings together the best design talent from all over the world to work on a specific design problem during a 3-day charrette. This will be an excellent opportunity for students to work with world class designers and to spend quality studio time designing right alongside some of the most talented HKS personnel.

PAVE Student Aid Program

The Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) has created a new Student Aid Program. Special funds are available to students who are experiencing financial difficulties that may impact their ability to continue their schooling. The application due is Oct. 1, 2009. 2011 Daltile Interior Design Scholarship Competition

Daltile and the American Society of Interior Designers announced the 2011 Daltile Interior Design Scholarship Competition, with a top prize of $10,000. The challenge: design students are invited to submit an original interior design, inspired by an artistic style, using Daltile products, to win one of 15 scholarship awards totaling $50,000.

PAVE's Student Aid Program Offering $10,000 in Grants to Students

PAVE (The Planning and Visual Education Partnership) is now accepting grant applications through the Student Aid Program. Grants are available to assist students who are experiencing financial difficulties that may affect their ability to continue their schooling.

Students interested in applying for special financial assistance should review the guidelines and submit a completed application, with supporting documentation, to be received at PAVE by Oct. 3, 2011.

NEWH Icon of Industry Scholarship Available

The NEWH ICON of Industry Scholarship is available for young people wishing to pursue careers in the hospitality industry.The $5,000 ICON of Industry Scholarship is open to exemplary students who have completed at least half of their program working toward a degree that will lead to a career in the Hospitality field with an emphasis towards design (open to Junior/Senior level students in an undergraduate program or students working on a graduate level degree). The winner of this award will be announced and presented to attendees of the Gold Key Cocktail Ceremony, with transportation and lodging for the student provided by NEWH, Inc. Applications should be received by September 16th, 2013.

PAVE Accepting Student Aid Applications

The Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) is now accepting applications for its 2014 scholarship program benefiting college students. PAVE has awarded over $75,000 in financial grants over the past five years to students and over $25,000 will be awarded in 2014.

Dwell Contest of the Design Conversation

Together with Dyson, Dwell opens a contest of the design conversation. More information can be found on Dwell website at http://new.dwell.com/contests/love-what-you-do.html. On the line is a $5,000 grant for the winning writer to pursue his or her design dreams. The deadline to submit is July 16^th.

College Art Association Fellowship for MFA Students

Full details on the recently restored Professional-Development Fellowships in the Visual Arts, including the application form, have just been posted to the College Art Association (CAA) website.

Later this fall, CAA will award five grants of $5,000 each to outstanding students who will receive MFA degrees in calendar year 2011. Honorable mentions, awarded at the discretion of the jury, will receive a free one-year CAA membership and complimentary registration to the Annual Conference.

CAA’s Professional-Development Fellowships in the Visual Arts offer financial assistance to promising MFA candidates. Fellows are honored with grants to help them with various aspects of their work, whether it be for job-search expenses or purchasing materials for the studio. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, October 1, 2010.

CVAD Continuing Student 2015-2014 Scholarship

CVAD Continuing Student Scholarships are available. These scholarships (most of which are for $1,000) are for students in all programs and all levels. The deadline is Feb. 1 at 4:00 p.m. All you need to do is go to CVAD website and click on the hyperlink for CVAD ContinuingStudent 2015-2014 Scholarship under Student Services. That will take you to a page that tells you what you need to gather and how to format that material. The application is a web form and should be easy.

2015-2012 CVAD Scholarships Available

2015-2012 College of Visual Arts & Design (CVAD) Scholarship Applications are now being accepted for all continuing students. Application deadline is February 4, 2011. More detailed information is available at the Scholarships in CVAD website.

2014 IFDA Student Scholarships Available

The International Furnishings and Design Association Educational Foundation (IFDA) offers student scholarships in 2014. Applications accepted each year between March 1 and no later than March 31.
